CARE operator grinding a concrete floor with dust-controlled equipment

Services

Concrete Floor Preparation & Grinding

Concrete floor grinding and scarifying for industrial and warehouse floors across Sydney, profiling concrete to the specification so the coating, membrane or repair system bonds and lasts.

Surface preparation

Substrate preparation the coating can actually bond to.

CARE provides concrete floor preparation across Sydney for builders, applicators and remedial contractors who need a concrete substrate profiled, cleaned and ready for what goes on top. From concrete floor grinding for thin-film coatings to scarifying and scabbling for heavy removal, every floor is prepared to the specified Concrete Surface Profile.

Surface preparation is the single biggest factor in coating and repair bond performance. Works are dust-controlled where required, set out around the program, and handed over clean and within the manufacturer's moisture and profile tolerances.

Capabilities

Floor preparation methods matched to the coating and the slab.

Diamond Grinding

Concrete floor grinding with diamond segments to remove laitance, coatings, adhesives and minor high spots, leaving a smooth, even profile (typically ICRI CSP 1-3). Suited to thin-film and high-build coatings, polished and burnished finishes, and smoothing minor surface deviations. Dust-controlled with H-class extraction.

Scarifying & Scabbling

Aggressive mechanical removal for thicker coatings, contaminated or unsound surface concrete and deeper profiling. Concrete scarifying (milling) produces ICRI CSP 5-7; scabbling (impact) reaches CSP 7-9 and is used to take a slab back to a sound, roughened substrate ahead of bonded overlays and structural repair.

Pre-Coating Floor Preparation & Surface Profile (CSP)

The Concrete Surface Profile is the spec that ties the work together. CARE prepares to the CSP nominated by the coating or repair manufacturer and the engineer (ICRI Guideline No. 310.2 / ASTM D7682), then confirms the substrate is sound, clean and within moisture limits before any system is applied.

ScabblingRemoval of unsound concrete, heavy laitance or contamination, repair preparationICRI CSP 7-9

Note: Surface profiles follow ICRI Guideline No. 310.2 (CSP 1-9). The final profile is confirmed against the coating or repair manufacturer's data sheet and the engineer's specification before application.
